Answer to the question which was asked to Sheikh Ahmad bin Yahya An Najmi( Rahimahu Allah):
The Salafiyyah is the connection to the Salaf. The Salaf are the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (Sala Allahu alaihi wa salam)
and those who follow them under the first three generations virtuous and all those who come later (who follow them and have their understanding). This is Salafiyyah.
Affiliation to the Salafiyyah means that one associates to the understanding of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ( Sala Allahu alaihi wa Salam) and this is the method of the people of hadith (narratives). As-Salafiyyah is the correct belief of the names and attributes of Allah (Subhanna wa ta'ala) ,the correct belief of Qadar (predestined) and the correct belief of the Sahaabah, and so on.
The Salaf believe in Allah ( Subhanna wa ta'ala) and His beautiful names and exalted attributes, with which He (Allah) has described Himself; and which was described by His Messenger (Sala Allahu alaihi wa salam). They believe in (His names and attributes) in a way that coincides with His Majesty (glorified and exalted),without distorting its meaning, or resembling the creation, or denying them or explaining them with false or wrong explanations.
They believe in the Qadar (predestined), good and bad, and that the iman (faith) of the servant (of Allah) is not complete until they believe in Qadar that Allah( Subhanna wa ta'ala) has decreed upon His servants. Allah (Subhanna wa ta'ala) say:
"Everything we've created with measure." (Surat al-Qamar: 49)
With respect to (a correct belief) of the Sahaabah , this means the belief required to be pleased with the companions of the Messenger of Allah (Sala Allahu alaihi wa salam) ;to know that they were all trustworthy and that they were the best Ummah (nation) and the best generation.
Salafiyyah has no leader except the Messenger of Allah (Sala Allahu alaihi wa salam) He is the Imaam (leader) of Salafiyyah and example (to be followed). The companions of the Messenger of Allah( Sala Allahu alaihi wa salam) are also examples (to follow). The foundation (or source) of this principle is found in the narrative of the Prophet( Sala Allahu alaihi wa Salam),
"The Jews were separated into seventy-one group. The Christians were separated into seventy-two groups. And this Ummah (nation) will be separated, in seventy-three groups ; all of them will be on the fire with the exception of one. "They (the Sahaabah) said:
He ( Sala Allahu alaihi wa Salam) said:
"Who are they (the group safe) O Messenger of Allah?"
"They are those who follow what I and my colleagues are."
(Hadith collected by Abu Dawud , Imam ibn Maajah, Imam Ahmad and Imam Ad Daarami. Classed as saheeh hassan (very good) by Imam Al Albani).
He (Sala Allahu alaihi wa salam) ordered to follow his sunnah (traditions) and Sunnah of Khulafaa (successors) or guided. He said:
