The position of Shaikh Albani, (Rahimahu Allah):
The sixth condition, the dress itself is not an ornament:
1. The prophet ( Sala Allahu alayhi wa salam) declared:
“The scent of a woman is one whose color is apparent and whose flavor is hidden…”
And this is in “Mukhtasar Ash- Shamaa’il” (188).
2. The behavior of companions (Females) about. Some narrations of Al Hafiz Ibn Abi Shaybah in “Al Musannaf” (8/371-372).
From Ibrahim – and he is An-Nakhai’:
“ That entered the houses of the wives of the Prophet (and this chain of narration is hasan Allahu alayhi wa salam) with ‘Alqamah and Al- ‘Aswad and saw them using red dresses”.
From Ibn Abi Mulaikah , who said:
“ I see to Umm Salamah wearing a dress and a veil stained with alazor (that mean kind of yellow/red)”.
From Al Qasim, and he is Muhammad Ibn Abu Bakr As- Sidiq:
“ That Aisha wore colored clothing with alazor when she was in the state of ihram”.
From Hisham, of Fatima bint Al-Mundhir:
“ That Asma wore colored clothing with alazor when she was in the state of ihram”.
From Sa’id Ibn Yubair:
“ That he saw some of the wives of the Prophet (Sala Allahu alayhi wa salam) making Tawaf around the House( the Kaba), while wearing colorful clothes with alazor….”
The eighth condition, that the yilbab not be used for Shuhrah ( to draw attention):
· By the hadith of Ibn ‘Umar (Radia Allahu anhu), who said that the Messenger of Allah (Sala Allahu alayhi wa salam), said:
“ Whoever wear intended to focus attention and looking for fame in this life
Allah will clothe him with clothing of humiliation on the Day of Resurrection and will be lit.”(*)
From Jilbaab ul Ma’ rat Il Muslimah p.121, 123.
· Abu Dawud (2/182), and Ibn Mayah (2/ 278-279) from Abu ‘Awanah, from ‘Uthman ibn al Maguirah, from Al Muhair, from him. And this chain of narration is hasan as Al Mundhiri said in: “At Targheeb (3/112)”
The position of Al-Lajnat ud-Daimah:
Question: The jilbab of the muslim woman have to be black or can be colored?
Answer: Clothing of Muslim women need not be black, and it is permissible for women to use any color of clothing, always covering their a'wrah, not resemble the man's clothes, is not close to body, and not thin or transparent and that does not provoke fitnah (temptation).
